WHAT IS COUNSELLING?
Counselling is a talking therapy where an individual is able to talk to a trained professional about problems that they are facing and emotions that they are experiencing.
For me, counselling is about taking time for yourself: Just as exercise and healthy eating is a part of maintaining our physical health, counselling is one of the ways that we can look after and maintain our mental and emotional health.
Everybody faces difficult, stressful or sad situations at some point in their lives. Counselling is one of the ways in which you can take care of yourself through these challenging times.
However big or small your problems may seem, talking to someone who is trained to listen, confidentially and outside of your friends and family network can be very helpful. Being 'truly heard' is a powerful gift. In being offered this through counselling you will find distressing situations more bearable, you will be able to understand yourself and your situation more fully, and you will find ways to change things for the better.
